Los Angeles' Musical Theatre Guild has announced casting for its upcoming production of 70, GIRLS, 70 (music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and book by Fred Ebb and Norman L. Martin) on its Facebook page.
The cast will include Chuck Bergman, Christopher Callen, Helen Geller, Pamela Hamill, David Holmes, S. Marc Jordan, Paul Keith, Marsha Kramer, Michael Sheppard, and Susan Watson, all members of the Guild. They will be joined by Sylvia Macalla, Erik McEwan, Barbara Minkus, and Steven Smith.
The Guild's official website's description of the musical reads, '70, GIRLS, 70 is ostensibly about the residents of a senior citizens' hotel who become shoplifters to buy the building before it is sold to developers. What it really is about is staying alive and enjoying every minute. Like their CHICAGO and CABARET, the story is a frame to hold Kander & Ebb's winning honky-tonk vaudeville score. If you don't come into the theatre humming "Coffee in a Cardboard Cup", "Home" or "Broadway My Street", you will when you leave... joyfully! 40th Anniversary Production!'
The Musical Theatre Guild will present 70, GIRLS, 70 on September 20 at 7:30pm at Glendale's Alex Theatre and on September 26 at 3:00pm at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.musicaltheatreguild.com or the Guild's Facebook page.
