Son of Semele will present the 6th annual Company Creation Festival from January 20 to February 14, 2016 at the Son of Semele Theater in Silver Lake. The curated festival promotes works developed through company collaboration or other less-conventional methodologies by providing Los Angeles theater artists with free performance space and marketing support.

Andy's World - Rook Theater
Meet Andy, everyone's favorite disembodied arm. As he searches far and wide for a purpose in his life, he leaves a trail of liberations everywhere he goes. From an alcoholic suburban Everymom to the wild pika on the savage tundra, no life stays untouched in Andy's World.
FROM THE COMPANY: We are a company of LA based artists interested in devising and telling our own stories. Our approach is simple. We tap our individual worlds, pull images out, assemble them and story is the by-product, like smoke on the fire. Our philosophy is this: if we have fun, so will you.

The Dryway: A merfolk opera - The Outpost
Loosely based on the ancient myth of Melusine, the half-serpent and/or half-fish woman widely popularized in the late medieval tales of Jean d'Arras, The Dryway tells the story of three mermaid sisters cursed to exile on land by their mother. Prose, poetry, and American folk music weave together to follow the sisters' banishment from the ocean to a motel bar in the desert, linking a mythic past with a gritty, humble present.
FROM THE COMPANY: The Outpost is a collection of independent generative artists who come together like fingers in a fist. We pool our creative resources in order to develop work because we believe that the best art is born in conversation. With our craft and curiosities combined, we're excited and equipped to excavate the stories we want to share.

Elizabeth Hammond - a eulogy - Drive Theatre Company
After a lifetime perfecting her hostess skills, Beth finds herself at the worst party she's ever been to: The conversation is shallow, the food is nonexistent and the booze is long gone... not to mention it happens to be her funeral. But what better time to gain a little perspective? Amidst flashbacks, canapés and inane gossip, Elizabeth Hammond offers a piercingly intuitive peek into what shapes a person's identity.
FROM THE COMPANY: Drive Theatre Company is committed to investigating performative storytelling through exploring new works and reimagining established texts. Drive Theatre demands active participation from our audiences and connects our theatre artists to organizations larger than ourselves. The overall mission of Drive is to promote a sense of personal agency - to remind artists and audience members that they can make a difference in each other's lives.

Etty Hillesum: a voice outside the Camp - Theatre Factory Studio
Based on the diaries and letters of Etty Hillesum, a Dutch Jew who served as a vital link between the prisoners of a Nazi work camp and the outside world, the play celebrates the radical altruism of a young life cruelly cut short.
FROM THE COMPANY: Theatre Factory Studio represents a humble action of resistance to the present day cultural attitudes that often prevent the development of an intellectual, independent and competent creative work. These beliefs are in favor of a more conservative and safe cultural approach, that generally considers any new, provocative and cultural contributions as suspicious. We are a small Poetic Theatre Company whose purpose is to promote and inspire Creative Theatre in the surrounding community and to awaken it to revolutionary social, cultural, and political ideas as a way to change the attitude of the world we live in.
