The 28th Annual Southland Theatre Artists Goodwill Event-S.T.A.G.E. presents ORIGINAL CAST 3, a musical celebration showcasing artists from theater, television and cabaret performing songs they originated in musical productions, tonight, April 28 at 7:30PM. This year, the annual event, which benefits AIDS Project Los Angeles, returns to the Saban Theatre Beverly Hills.
Each of the cast members of ORIGINAL CAST 3 will perform songs from shows with which they were associated. Those now scheduled to appear and the shows from which they will perform material are as follows: Anna Maria Alberghetti (Carnival), Adrienne Barbeau, (Grease), David Burnham (Light in the Piazza), Len Cariou (Sweeney Todd), Patrick Cassidy (Assassins), Patrick Cassidy and Shirley Jones (Maggie Flynn), Mary Jo Catlett (Different Times), Carole Cook with Alaman Diadhiou (How Do You Do I Love You),Loretta Devine, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Lillias White doing a number from Dreamgirls, Beth Fowler (Beauty and the Beast), Bonnie Franklin (Applause,) Cody Green (West Side Story), Brian Lane Green (Big River), Bill Hutton (Blame It On the Movies), Carol Lawrence (West Side Story), Pat Marshall (Mr. Wonderful), Andrea McArdle (Annie), Donna McKechnie, (A Chorus Line), Pat Morison (The King and I), Rex Smith (The Pirates of Penzance), Sally Struthers (Annie), The Tonics (Sondheim-A Musical Celebration at Carnegie Hall), Constance Towers (Anastasia), Susan Watson (Bye Bye Birdie) and John Lloyd Young (Jersey Boys).
David Galligan, who has produced and directed the show since its inception, will direct the production. John McDaniel will serve as Music Director with choreography by Lee Martino and Dan Mojica. Jon Maher will do sign language interpretation.
Since 1996, S.T.A.G.E. has recognized performers, philanthropists, businesses, organizations and individuals for their dedicated work in the fight against AIDS with the S.T.A.G.E. Producers Award. This year, the S.T.A.G.E. Producers Award will be presented to film, television and stage actor Leslie Jordan for his long-standing commitment to the AIDS community. He has worked on behalf of organizations such as Project Nightlight, an early off-shoot of Project Angel Food, The Trevor Project, the Human Rights Campaign, San Diego-based Stepping Stone, Tulsa Cares in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Chattanooga Cares in his hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
