Saycon Sengbloh is set to reprise the powerful role of Sandra Iszadore in the landmark Tony Award winning Broadway musical, FELA!, for a one week engagement at the Ahmanson Theatre (Los Angeles). Saycon will take to the stage from January 1 to January 8, 2011.

Joining her original FELA! Broadway cast including Sahr Ngaujah as Fela Kuti, this critically lauded musical is about the life and music of Nigerian performer and political activist Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

Soon after her one-week engagement, Saycon will join the cast of Katori Hall’s (author of Mountain Top starring Angela Bassett and Samuel L. Jackson) Hurt Village playing at Signature Theatre from February 7 through March 28, 2012, with a Feb. 27 opening.

Hurt Village focuses on “a teenage girl, her mother and great-grandmother as they prepare to move out of a housing project in Memphis, Tennessee thanks to a government grant and find that their plans are disrupted by the unexpected return of the girls’ father from a tour of duty in Iraq

In addition to her theatrical pursuits, Saycon recently released a new EP titled Warrior through collaborating with DJ Serge Negri. The Warrior E.P. features the original song "Warrior" and a special bonus track, “Sorrow, Tears, & Blood” for all those Afro-beat lovers with additional soulful house instrumentals for the soul lover. Warrior is available on Amazon, Bamboosounds.net, Itunes, Afrodesiamp3.com and other online retailers.

In addition to starring in the hot Afro-beat musical "Fela!" on Broadway as the delicious Sandra Iszadore, she also appeared as "Abe Lincoln" in the Broadway Revival of "Hair". She also appears in the films American Gangster and Across the Universe. Saycon also worked with industry giant Tyler Perry in his first musical "I Know I've Been Changed." Saycon has the honored distinction of being the first African-American woman to perform on Broadway as Elphaba in “Wicked”, the musical. Saycon has toured the U.S. and internationally as the seductive Mimi in "Rent"!, starred as Aida in Elton John and Tim Rice’s “Aida” and as Nettie in the Atlanta premiere and performed the role of Celie from Oprah Winfrey’s Broadway production "The Color Purple: The Musical." The Georgia peach has graced the pages of Vibe magazine in its annual juice issue as one of the hottest up and coming acts. Musically, the songstress appears on the Grammy nominated soundtracks for "Fela!," the Broadway revival soundtrack of "Hair" and independently released a full length R&B/Pop CD "Southern Pin-Up."
