Sacred Fools Presents The World Premiere Comedy TANGERINE SUNSET

Sacred Fools Theater Company is concluding its 22st season on a comically twisted note with the World Premiere of Tangerine Sunset, written by Peter Fluet and directed by JJ Mayes. Opening Friday, March 15 and running through April 13 on the Main Stage at the Broadwater Theater Complex, the hilariously bizarre comedy will run Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 7pm.

Every paradise has a tragic (no, strike that) comic (sure, but still not quite it...) dark side. This is the story of a group of unlucky souls who find themselves the involuntary guests of a palatial estate on a mysterious private island. These celebrities, billionaires, madmen, and innocents desperately try to survive the night with their lives and sanity intact.

Tangerine Sunset began as an ongoing serial in Sacred Fools' long-running late-night sensation, Serial Killers. Premiering back in January of 2015, the piece ran a total of seven episodes, ultimately taking second place in the Serial Killers Playoffs.

"From an improv show in Hollywood, to the long running late night show Serial Killers, to three years of workshopping, the screwball gothic horror Tangerine Sunset has been a labor of love and madness." says author Peter Fluet. "Sacred Fools has, every step of the way, helped me bring this dark comedy to life even when I wanted to murder it."

Playwright and cast member Peter Fluet is a veteran comedy performer who has worked with Westside Comedy, IO West, Second City and Groundlings Sunday company, as well as co-producing and performing in the ongoing Sacred Fools show League of Fools. Fluet has also served as a Serial Killers producer and has hosted the show for several seasons.

Tangerine Sunset is the third Mainstage show directed by JJ Mayes, having previously helmed Live! From the Last Night of my Life and The Magic Bullet Theory. He was a Serial Killers Producer for eight seasons and also served three terms as a Sacred Fools Co-Artistic Director. He produced such hits as Louis & Keely: Live at the Sahara, A Kind of Love Story and The Behavior of Broadus.

The design team consists of Set Design by Pete Hickok (Die, Mommie, Die! at the Kirk Douglas Theater, Priscilla Queen of the Desert at Celebration Theater and more), Lighting Design by Matthew Richter (Mr. Burns, a post-electric play, Too Heavy For Your Pocket and more), Sound Design by Jaime Robledo (Land of the Tigers, Astro Boy and the God of Comics and more) and Costume Design by Linda Muggeridge (Mr. Burns, a post-electric play, The Art Couple and more). The "Tangerine Sunset Theme Song" has words and music by Richard Levinson, Jamie Fluet and Joel Wachbrit and there are Original Raps by Chris Alvarado. The show's Movement Director is Tavi Stutz and Fight Choreography is by Mike Mahaffey, SDC. Tangerine Sunset is produced for Sacred Fools by Jamie Fluet, David Mayes and Brian W. Wallis.

Tangerine Sunset features Jahmone Duhaney, Anahi Bustillos, Peter Fluet, Erin J. Lann, Lauren Van Kurin, Kristyn Evelyn, Victor Isaac, Ren Harris, Scott Leggett, Heather Schmidt, Michael Shaw Fisher and Dave Theune. The understudy cast includes Schoen Hodges, Alli Miller, Ryan Coil, Jennifer Christina DeRosa, Naina Michaud, Ryan Gowland, Nikki Muller, Alaya Lee Walton, Allison Reeves and Katie McDermott.
