Streep Tease: An Evening of Meryl Streep Monologues performed by an All-Male Cast, critically acclaimed by the LA Times, the LA Weekly and Daily Variety, will make its New York debut, Mon., June 27 at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater, it was announced today by the show's Creator & Co-Executive Producer Roy Cruz. Since it's Los Angeles debut a little more than 18 months ago, the show has won a cult following, wowing audiences and receiving rave reviews while playing at the Bang Improv Theatre in Los Angeles. A celebratory, wicked, yeT Loving satire of scenes from the most unforgettable movies from one of our greatest contemporary actresses, Streep Tease is performed by an ensemble cast of seven actors. The show is Co-Executive Produced by Kenneth Hartung and directed by Ezra Weisz,

"For such a long time, we have been wanting to play the show in New York City," says Cruz. "There has been so much interest and enthusiasm for Streep Tease from our East Coast friends but we wanted to make sure we had the right venue - and now we do with an exciting and vibrant place like Joe's Pub!"

An homage to one of our most popular and enduring actresses, Meryl Streep's prodigious body of film work serves as the inspiration and fascination for Streep Tease, an all-male cast's re-interpretation of some of the revered actresses' most iconic scenes. Included are monologues from The Devil Wears Prada, Out of Africa, Silkwood, The French Lieutenant's Woman, Doubt, and The Still of the Night, among others. Though drawn from the dramatic and comedic 'Canon of Cinema Streep,' all of the scenes evolve into a hilarious, outlandish, kooky and sometimes campy romp through Streep's film repertoire. Added Cruz, "with Streep's soon-to-be released turn portraying Britain's former Prime Minister, 'Iron Lady' Margaret Thatcher, we'll know we'll have another scene to add to the show - and we're already searching for the right wig!"

Creator/Producer Roy Cruz, born and raised in the Philippines, is a stand up comedian/actor. Among his recent work in television and film: Keisha Vs. Geisha, a short film he wrote and produced that screened at the Slamdance Film Festival; and his comedy performance on Wisecrack, a Logo TV show. He has headlined at the Maui Cultural Center, Lake Tahoe Winterfest, Salt Lake City's Comedy 101 and at this year's Outlaugh GLBT Comedy Festival (as well as in '05, '06 & '09). He performs regularly around Los Angeles and its environs. His essay "Janeane's Garofalo's Greasy Hair" was published in the book "Out on the Edge: America's Rebel Comics." His most recent essay "Faye Dunaway Saved The Christmas Pageant" was featured in Salon.com's "Saved by Pop Culture section."

Among recent accolades for Streep Tease:

"'Streep Tease' offers lots of fun and laughs...Matthew Nouriel does a riotously funny take on Sara Woodruff from The French Lieutenant's Woman (complete with the foggy backdrop), and then does an even funnier version set in a Muslim country with all the customary restraints. Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada is brought to life by Cruz, who does a wickedly bitchy turn salted with just the right tinge of icy detachment. And who could forget the nun from hell, the bossy, fussy, bullying Sister Aloysius Beauvier from Doubt, here fully realized with knuckle-busting ruler, two rosaries and bonnet, by Bryan T. Donovan."

Lovell Estell III LA Weekly

"Cruz and director Ezra Weisz have constructed a well-structured, tight show that's over almost before you want it to be, Trent Walker's scene from Silkwood is white-trashtastic; and Taylor Negron's from Sophie's Choice coalesces the audience into one being, collectively holding our breaths and back our tears.

Rebecca Haithcoat. LA Weekly

"'Streep Tease'...now playing to turn-away crowds...has obviously struck a chord in the universal camp consciousness...this brisk, hour-long sampling of Streep's oeuvre...features a gamely goofy cast...the most hilarious segment of the evening is a six-minute rendition of the entire plot of 'Out of Africa,' performed by David Dean Bottrell with a spot-on Danish accent and a languid manner that is at hilarious odds with his breathlessly-paced romp."

F. Kathleen Foley, The LA Times

"What a glorious little show... David Dean Bottrell's all-out hilarious Karen Blixen in a six-minute take on 'Out of Africa'... a loving and fun homage to a living legend."

Don Grigware, Broadwayworld.com

"Bottrell, who selected 'Out of Africa'...conflates the plot of the entire feature film into six side-splitting minutes, with props, on-stage deaths, and what might just be the very best flight simulation ever to appear behind the proscenium arch.

Jace Lacob, The Daily Beast

The cast of Streep Tease includes Cruz, cast members David Dean Bottrell (currently guest starring on Days of Our Lives, 'Lincoln Meyer' on Boston Legal), Ron Morehouse (TV credits include Boston Public, Starter Wife, L.A. Noire), Trent Walker (Gods and Generals), Bryan T. Donovan (Thintervention reality series), Matthew Nouriel (Downtown Comedy Club) and Joel Scher (Act Now web series).
