Los Angeles based writer Shyla Marlin, along director Nick Mills prepare to unleash Still Standing, the next in their line of projects. The play follows the dramatic story of a family's ever changing makeup, and is set in New Orleans during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The play will open August 6th with an initial six week run at Los Angeles' famous Theatre Asylum.
Produced by Vitality Productions (The Shape of Things, Boys' Life), the play will be headlined by well-known thespian Eileen T'Kaye (The Fantastiks). Others in the cast include Nichelle Hines (Grey's Anatomy), Monique McIntyre (Dumbya's Rapture), Rondrell McCormick (February One for PBS), Vanessa Peruda (Out of Service), and Jesse Weinberg (Californication).

ABOUT SHYLA MARLIN / Playwright
Shyla developed her passion for theatre at a young age. After producing and starring in the Annex Theatre's Birdbath by Leonard Melfi at sixteen, she continued on to work at the Berkshire Theatre Festival in Stockbridge, Mass. originating the role of "Mileva" in the initial production of The Elephant and the Mayfly. Shyla studied Theatre and French at the University of Southern California, La Sorbonne and Cité Universitaire in Paris, France and graduated in 1998. She began her film career with roles in projects such as Woo (New Line Cinema), Whatever it Takes (Columbia/Phoenix Pictures) and Lies and Alibis (Warner Brothers). Shyla continues her commitment to independent theatre with productions like Theatre 68's On the Brink where she received fiery acclaim from LA Weekly and Back Stage West, and the recent production of I Stand Before You Naked, which received ‘Best Bet' from the LA Times.
ABOUT NICK MILLS / Director
Nick Mills is the Artistic Director of Vitality Productions and received his MFA from the NYU Graduate Acting Program. Last year, his original two man show, Egg Farm, which he co-wrote and performed, premiered at the New York International Fringe Festival. In 2008, the short film, The Receptionist, which he wrote and directed, premiered at The Regent Showcase in Hollywood. As an actor, he has produced and acted with Vitality Productions in The Shape of Things, Boys' Life, and Himbos. Television and film roles include True Blood, Nothing is Cool, The Appointment, The Receptionist, and Deported.
