This Saturday, April 26th, 2014 at 8pm, The Album Project: + makes its Rockwell: Table & Stage debut in a one-night only performance. After last month's brilliant sold out-world premiere, producers are thrilled to bring this immersive, freshly staged remount to one of Los Angeles' greatest live music and performance venues. Scroll down to see a video of The Album Project's Anthony Starble and Ben Caron singing Ed Sheeran's "This"!
The evening features performances by Lindsay Pearce (bare, "Glee," "The Glee Project"), Anthony Starble ("Pretty Little Liars," "The Fosters"), Nicci Claspell (American Idiot), Ben Caron (LA's For The Record series) and Spring Awakening in Concert's Topher Rhys and Jamie Lee Barnard.
glory|struck Productions, the creative team behind the highly-lauded Los Angeles revival of bare and the Love is Louder-aligned Spring Awakening, launched Volume One of the series as The Album Project: +, reimagining songs from Ed Sheeran's debut studio album, which was certified quintuple platinum in the United Kingdom and was the highest-grossing US debut of a British artist since 2009.
Audiences can expect to hear all of their favorites from + including hits "The A Team," "Lego House," "Give Me Love," "Drunk," "Small Bump," "You Need Me, I Don't Need You," and "Grade 8", as well as tracks from the album's deluxe version.
Conceived by Artistic Director Kate Sullivan Gibbens, The Album Project is a love letter to the artistic impact of records within a changing music landscape. Each volume of the series explores the emotional landscape of a contemporary album, illuminating the inherent stories, themes, and concepts in a unique theatrical experience.
The Album Project: + is developed and helmed by director Kate Sullivan Gibbens (Spring Awakening in Concert, original collaborator on Dustin Lance Black's 8) with musical direction by Elmo Zapp (bare). Creating fresh orchestrations and vocal arrangements of the Sheeran hits are Elmo Zapp, Alex Seller, Patrick Burns, and Anthony Starble, who is making waves with his recent single "Oh Father," off his EP We Need To Be Loved.
Topher Rhys, Jamie Lee Barnard and Juliana Scott are producing for glory|struck.
After launching the self-exploratory rant, "You Need Me, I Don't Need You" on YouTube, Ed Sheeran garnered the attention and support of Jamie Foxx and Elton John, who signed him to his management company, Rocket. Sheeran was nominated for Best New Artist Grammy in 2014, Song of the Year ("The A-Team") in 2013, and Album of the Year for his work on Taylor Swift's Red in 2014. His second album is set to debut this spring.
