"COLOGNE, Or The Ways Evil Enters The World." the short story, was first published by Windfall Press. Its production history began in 1999 at Highways in Santa Monica starring the author, and under David Schweizer's direction continued at The Tiffany Theatre in West Hollywood produced by Paula Holt & Eileen T'Kaye. It subsequently played at Theatre 150, Ojai, at The Evidence Room, LA, at Santa Fe Playhouse, New Mexico, Off-Broadway at the Rattlestick Theatre (adding Suzi Dietz to the producing team), and finally at the Lavender Footlights Festival in Miami. The current production marks the debut of Harry Hart-Browne in the role and the first time an actor other than the playwright has assayed the role.
Performed by actor/writer/storyteller Harry Hart-Browne. Harry Hart-Browne received eleven awards for his acting work, including two LA Weekly Theatre Awards, two AGLA Awards, and the Buck's County Playhouse Best Actor Award. He starred in Lanford Wilson's Off-Broadway classic The Hot l Baltimore, LA's award-winning Charles Busch comedy Psycho Beach Party, and the critically acclaimed Frederick Combs drama The Children's Mass. Harry also starred in the Michael Kearns directed hits Emmett: A One Mormon Show and Warren. He has guest-starred on Seinfeld, LA Law, Night Court, Married...With Children, Hill Street Blues, and has appeared in many films. Harry helped pioneer the personal story solo play with his ground-breaking Pardon Me, I'm Having an Emotion in 1978, and he currently performs his spiritually-themed Special Delivery nationwide with a planned performance at Santa Monica Playhouse in January 2011.
Directed by Tony Abatemarco. An award-winning actor, director, writer, producer, and teacher, Tony recently directed Robyn Peterson's Catwalk Confidential in London's West End and Kerri Randles' Can't You Hear Me Knockin'? at the Hollywood Fringe. Prior to that he directed Julie Harris in Lucifer's Child on Broadway and for A & E TV; other directing credits: Mark Taper Forum, Pasadena Playhouse, Santa Fe Stages, La Mama, Theatre Grevin, Paris, etc. In 2008, Abatemarco played Salieri in Pittsburgh Public Theater's Amadeus and Polonius in Hamlet at A Noise Within. Other acting honors: Bach at Leipzig, Mystery of Irma Vep, La Bete, Camara Lenta. He also starred in Plato's Symposium at London's ICA; Electra in Delphi, Greece and performed his original solo shows, Four Fathers and Cologne in LA, Santa Fe, Off-Broadway, and Miami. He was a recipient of an Innovation in Theatre Award from Theatre LA, and the recipient of two NEA fellowships. He also served as the Artistic Director of The Jacques d'Amboise's National Dance Institute, Mark Taper Forum. Abatemarco teaches at USC's School of Theatre and is an Endowed Chair at SMC Emeritus College. His latest story, Schwinn, will appear in Issue 4 of Boneshaker Magazine (due February 2011), available at Skylight Books.
