Ryan Adams, who recently made his Walt Disney Concert Hall debut on November 21 as part of See a Little Light: A Celebration of the Music and Legacy of Bob Mould, will return to the iconic venue to give a full solo concert performance on Friday, February 17, at 8 p.m.
Generating arguably the best reviews of his career, Adams’ latest release, Ashes & Fire (PAX-AM/Capitol), is eleven succinct and beautiful songs that “will leave you speechless” according to People, and hailed by Esquire as “too good not to write about” and by USA Today as a record that “restores faith in the increasingly saggy singer/songwriter genre.” Ashes & Fire was produced by Glyn Johns, renowned for his work with the likes of The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Clash and The Rolling Stones, and whose son Ethan produced previous Adams solo landmarks including Heartbreaker and Gold. The record also features guest turns from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench and Norah Jones, who contributes piano and backing vocals to several tracks.
Adams’ recently added 2012 tour dates to his current run of 2011 sold out tour dates that have been generating escalating raves and reviews. His devastating solo acoustic reads of Mould's “Heartbreak a Stranger” and "Black Sheets of Rain" stripped the arrangements bare and revealed the first-rate melodicist behind them.”
