Award-winning playwright/comedian, Rick Najera will perform his latest comedy, Daddy Diaries: Diary of a Dad Man at Covina Center for the Performing Arts, Jun 4-6, 2010 as part of a Father's Day Special. The show, written and performed by Najera and directed for stage by Gary Blumsack, explores life as "Hollywood Guy" turned "Daddy Guy", with the voice of his Mexican Dad ringing in his head.
In Daddy Diaries: Diary of a Dad Man, Najera comically explores life from bachelorhood to fatherhood, and family life with a Latino twist. Najera is an award-winning actor-writer-director-producer and noted playwright with credits in film (Nothing Like the Holidays), television (MADtv, In Living Color) and theatre including Broadway (Latinologues).
"There is one thing that fatherhood hasn't changed in Najera: His ability to land a well-timed punchline," states Theatre Jones critic, Mark Lowry. "Daddy Diaries Diary of a Dad Man, which mixes monologue and stand-up and is directed by Gary Blumsack, is funny and more poignant than anything we've seen from Najera before."
Rick Najera's live performance takes place on Friday, June 4 and Saturday, June 5 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Covina Center for the Performing Arts, located at 104 N. Citrus Ave, Covina, CA 91723.
Ticket prices are $35 (reg.) and $50 (box seat) and can be purchased online or through the Covina Center's box office at (626) 331-8133.
