Chris Isaacson Presents has announced that eclectic singer/songwriter and jazz artist Raya Yarbrough will appear at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood for one show only on Friday, September 14, at 7pm. She will be performing material from her new album "North of Sunset, West of Vine." Folk-pop vocal trio JEMS will open the show.
Raya Yarbrough is a vocal chameleon who, at age seven, started singing with her musician father in Hollywood jazz clubs. She captivates her audiences with compelling performances that reveal shades of Sarah Vaughn and Adele. The Los Angeles Times called her voice, "a pliable, versatile instrument, an effective vehicle for a musical expression that ranges freely." USA Today said, "Yarbrough's gracefully gritty vocals recall a young Joan Osborne." Yarbrough has opened for Terence Blanchard at The Jazz Standard in New York City, performed at the Playboy Jazz Festival, and has been featured at The Hollywood Bowl as a soloist under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel.
At Hotel Cafe, Yarbrough will present songs from her new CD, other original music, and a few covers. She will be supported by a six-piece band including bassist Pete Griffin, drummer Bryan Taylor, guitarist Michael Eisenstein, and pianist Stuart Elster, and backing vocalists Felice Hernandez and Sara Mann. Exclusive advance copies of Yarbrough's new CD, "North of Sunset, West of Vine," will be available the night of the performance. The CD will be released September 14 by Alternajazz (Sparks & Shadows) and will be available October 5 at Amazon and digitally on all major platforms worldwide.
