Playwrights 6 is pleased to present a staged reading of a new play by Dave Field, "Guest of Honor," at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 at the Meta Theatre, 7801 Melrose Ave. (entrance on Ogden), Los Angeles.
The reading is free and open to the public. A reception with food and refreshments follows.
"Guest of Honor" is about Scott Joplin's lost opera and how its discovery ignites parallel acts of betrayal in the present and in the past.
"Guest of Honor" is the third and final in Playwrights 6's 2009 staged reading series, dubbed "Play Night with the Playwright."
Field, a former ad man, ran his own L.A. radio creative service for 40 years. He turned to play writing full time in 2000, enjoying success with many one-acts and full-length plays. His most notable play, "Symmetry," was staged in 2005 at the Victory Gardens Theatre in Chicago where it received a Joseph Jefferson Award nomination for best play.
