Piers Morgan Honored at BritWeek Gala 2012

Piers Morgan was honored at the BritWeek "An Evening with Piers Morgan" on May 4th at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, benefiting Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

The purpose of BritWeek is to celebrate and highlight creativity and innovation between Britain and California, through a program of dozens of events. As this year’s honoree, Piers Morgan followed in the footsteps of former Prime Minister Tony Blair, Sir Richard Branson, and AEG Worldwide President & CEO Tim Leiweke.

This year Jackie Collins interviewed the honoree and both were introduced to the stage by Jerry Springer. This was not the first time that Jackie Collins and Piers Morgan had sat down with each other. Morgan interviewEd Collins on his show, ‘Piers Morgan Tonight,’ last year.

The BritWeek ‘ Evening with Piers Morgan’ featured musical entertainment from internationally-famous Welsh mezzo-soprano and crossover singer Katherine Jenkins – a featured contestant on Season 14 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars – and Australian-born 2008 American Idol contestant Michael Johns.

Celebrities in attendance included: Piers Morgan, Jackie Collins, Kelly Osbourne, Michael Johns, Jerry Springer, Katherine Jenkins, Bear Grylls, Maxwell Caulfield, Martyn Lawrence- Bullard, Ross King, Jamie Bamber, Jonny Coyne, Amber Kelleher-Andrews, Tom Payne, Calvin Goldspink, Carly Steel, Jim Piddock and Juliet Mills.

BritWeek is a non-profit agency that organizes this program of events every spring in California, to highlight and celebrate the links between the Golden State and the United Kingdom. The program encompasses film & television, music, literature, art, fashion, design, cuisine, retail, sport, science & technology, philanthropy, academic and business links, and emphasizes creativity, innovation and excellence.
