On Saturday, May 6, 2017, The West Hollywood Cheerleaders won The Life Group LA's 6th Annual Drag Queen World Series against the returning champions LA Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
The final score was 15 The West Hollywood Cheerleaders to 14 The LA Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
"Well rain or shine could not stop this years game. Both teams brought their best game and funny antics. It was a great time, for a great cause. I could not be more grateful for all who came out to support!" -Sunnie Rose Berger, Executive Director/Co-Founder of The Life Group LA.
Drag Queen World Series raises awareness of the fact that the AIDS pandemic is not over and to erase the stigma, and is also an opportunity to raise financial support for The Life Group LA. The group's main goal is to continue providing education and emotional support to persons infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
During the 7th inning stretch, recent City of Glendale Mayor, Paula Devine talked to the crowd how proud she was that the the Drag Queen World Series was happening in her city of Glendale. "As a former educator, I always use to tell my students, this world is like a ship. We are all on this ship together, we all have to get alone, love each other and support each other no matter what. I want you to know that I support you, the city of Glendale supports you and thank you for letting us be included in your festivities" - Paula Devine, former City of Glendale Mayor.
