The Katselas Theatre Company presents the World Premiere musical, Children of the Night, book, music and lyrics by Scott Martin. David Galligan is directing. Producing are Gary Grossman and Jayne Hamil. The production opens Saturday, October 10 at the Beverly Hills Playhouse.

Set in 1897, this dramatic musical focuses on Bram Stoker, the business manager of London's Royal Lyceum Theatre, who is anxious to launch his own playwriting career with the first public reading of his play, Dracula, based on his soon-to-be-published novel. Along the way, he encounters the hopes, the passions, the setbacks and the realities that set the future course of his life.

The production is based on the true story of author Bram Stoker's first dramatic reading of Dracula and his contentious relationship and lifelong devotion to Shakespearean actor, Sir Henry Irving. Children of the Night was one of nine original musicals showcased at the first Global Search for New Musicals at the Sherman Theatre in Cardiff, Wales, as part of the International Festival of Musical Theatre, produced by SONY and the BBC; and was developed locally by the Academy for New Musical Theatre, Musical Theatre West and Camelot Artists.

Scott Martin has worked extensively in Los Angeles for many years as an actor, director, writer, composer and musician. Some of his other successfully-produced shows in the L.A. area include Scream Queens - The Musical (published by Samuel French), originally developed as part of Stephen Schwartz's Disney/ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop, Little Green Men (Kentwood Players) and children's shows for Storybook Theatre at Theatre West. .

One of this country's most esteemed directors of live theater and cabaret, David Galligan recently staged Songs, Tyne Daly's acclaimed nightclub debut at Feinstein's in New York, as well as My Trip Down the Pink Carpet, written by and starring Leslie Jordon, which is soon to open off- Broadway. Other recent credits include: Mame, starring Carol Lawrence and Sally Struthers and Showboat, starring Dale Kristien, for Musical Theatre West and The Lion in Winter, starring Carole Cook and Tom Troupe at the Pasadena Playhouse. For the past 25 years, Galligan has directed and co-produced the annual all-star S.T.A.G.E. fundraisers for AIDS charities.

Musical director is Ross Kalling. Choreographer is Lee Martino. The production design team includes: Jimmy Cuomo (sets), A. Jeffery Schoenberg (costumes) and David Barber (lighting).

The production stars Robert Patteri, Gordon Goodman, Teri Bibb and Gibby Brand, with Melissa Bailey, Ashley Cuellar, Joey D'Auria, Freddie Lara, Amanda Majkrzak, John Racca, Gilmore Rizzo, Alison Robertson, Mark Rohner and Gabrielle Wagner.

Children of the Night premieres Saturday, October 10 at 8PM. Performances continue Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm, until November 1, 2009.
