The Classical Theatre Lab and the City of West Hollywood opened Moliere's "The Misanthrope" to a sold-out house Saturday, July 11th at Kings Road Park in West Hollywood, CA. Scroll down for photos from the show!
Moliere's comic masterpiece is freely adapted and directed by award-winning director Tony Tanner, produced by Suzanne Hunt and Alex Wells. Love hurts and so does honesty in this hilarious classic French comedy when the hero, Alceste, is torn between devotion to absolute truth and desire for the beautiful and cruelly witty social butterfly, Celimene. His outspokenness threatens to turn his world upside down after he delivers a devastating critique of a nobleman's sonnet.
The cast includes the talents of Thomas Anawalt, Jeffrey Scott Basham, Mike Bingaman, Christina Jacquelyn Calph, Kathy Bell Denton, Michael Faulkner, Rebecca Lincoln, Christopher Salazar and Alex Wells (Aug. 8 & Aug. 9 in for Michael Faulkner).
The play runs Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 4PM, now through August 16th (dark Sundays July 26th and Aug. 2nd), outdoors at Kings Road Park, 1000 N. Kings Road, West Hollywood 90069. Admission is free. Donations are welcomed. Reservations recommended at (323) 960-5691. Free street parking. For more information, visit www.classicaltheatrelab.org.
