As part of its 'Water Works' performance season, Sonoma State University Department of Theatre Arts & Dance presents the premiere of 'The Séance' by Dylan Waite, directed by Jon Robin with dramaturgy by Celine Delcayre.
Sex, weed, and tacos abound in Fresno when Alex, a college student, comes to arid Fresno for the funeral of her sometime lover (also named Alex) and searches for a way to honor her memory. 'The Séance' is an often comic mosaic of personalities who struggle against the harsh environment of a literal and spiritual drought.
'The Séance' is the first student written play to be part of the department's main season. Student playwright Dylan Waite's written works have been presented at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, Bay Area Playwrights Festival and Sonoma State University's "Super Mega Molten Hot Lava New Play Festival." Waite also created the "Midnight Theater" series presented at Sonoma State University.
