Last night, October 15th, award-winning journalist Soledad O'Brien continued her I AM LATINO IN AMERICA Tour, presented by Northwestern Mutual, stopping at Occidental College in Los Angeles for another packed event filled with celebrities, national and local advocates, business leaders, students and academics. In attendance were: Soledad O'Brien (Award-winning journalist), Taboo (Member of the Black Eyed Peas), Cristela Alonzo (Producer, Actor, Comedian), Esai Morales (Actor, Performing Artist and Activist), Loretta Sanchez (U.S. Representative D-CA), Rick Najera (Writer, Director, Producer), Monica Lozano, (Chairman, Aspen Institute Latinos and Society Program), Jeff Valdez (Producer, Writer and Director, President, Valdez Productions), Helen Iris Torres (Executive Director and CEO, HOPE), Enrique Morones (Founder, Border Angels), and Julissa Arce (Immigration and Education Advocate, Co-founder and Chairman of the Ascend Educational Fund).
Opened by a performance from Grammy Nominated Latina group Trio Ellas, Soledad and the panelists, including Esai Morales, Cristela Alonzo, Rick Najera and more, addressed critical issues amongst the Latino community including voting, the economy, and education issues throughout the evening. Following the presentation and panel, guests were treated to a special performance from Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas.
Soledad O'Brien is an award winning journalist, documentarian, news anchor, and producer. At the forefront of the biggest breaking news stories of the past two decades, O'Brien is one of the most sought-after journalists today.
