In a true "Coast to Coast" moment - SPRING AWAKENING's Hunter Parrish (Melchior) met up with Kyle Riabko (also Melchior) after a performance of Spring Awakening at The Ahmanson Theater this week.  Hunter was in town for a very quick trip, and stopped in to see the show, and visit and swap stories with them after the show - then back to NYC and the Great White Way! The National Tour of Spring Awakening continues through this weekend in Los Angeles, and then is booked through the end of 2009 all across the country.

Winner of 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical as well as 2008 Grammy winner, SPRING AWAKENING celebrates the journey from youth to adulthood with a power, a poignancy and a passion that is unforgettable.

This Fall also marked the launch of the First National Touring Company which premiered  on September 7th , and is currently playing at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. The tour's upcoming schedule includes Tempe, AZ, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto, Canada  and Washington, DC among many other stops. September 2, 2008 also was a milestone for the show, as it was the first Broadway show to be invited by iTunes to record a  ‘LIVE from SoHo' concert  at the  Apple Store/Soho, which was released exclusively on iTunes. Also in September, the Spring Awakening companion book, ‘Spring Awakening In The Flesh"  has been released by Simon & Schuster.

Nearly one hundred years after German playwright Frank Wedekind's death, his daring 1891 play, Spring Awakening, was adapted by playwright-poet Steven Sater, scored by pop singer-songwriter Duncan Sheik, and guided by visionary director Michael Mayer.  A story of the budding sexuality of adolescents in 19th-century Germany, Spring Awakening was first performed in 1906 and frequently banned thereafter. The Broadway incarnation of Wedekind's play, a high-concept rock musical that smashes pop-punk songs into Victorian iconography, debuted at the Atlantic Theater Companyin the spring of 2006, opened at the Eugene O'Neill Theater on Broadway in the fall of 2006, and went on to win eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Spring Awakening exploded onto the scene, inciting intense emotional reactions from both teenage fans, adults, and seasoned critics alike, and sweeping the 2007 Tonys.

International productions of the musical are now slated for London, Japan, Korea and Germany.

Spring Awakening's performance schedule is as follows: Tuesday & Sunday at 7 pm, Wednesday-Saturday at 8 pm, Matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. For information and tickets, call Telecharge.com at 212 239-6200. The musical is playing at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre, 230 West 49th Street.
