Nicholas Brendon will star in The Blank's limited engagement of David Sedaris' THE SANTALAND DIARIES, directed by Michael Matthews. THE SANTALAND DIARIES is the first offering of The Blank's "Great Writers" season which begins performances on Friday, November 20 and opens on Friday November 27 at The Blank's 2nd Stage Theatre in Hollywood.
NICHOLAS BRENDON, who plays "David/Crumpet the Elf" in this one-man show, is best known to audiences as "Xander" on the hit TV series BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. His work for The Blank Theatre Company includes LOBSTER ALICE, where he starred opposite Noah Wyle, and several years in the Young Playwrights Festival. He recurs on CBS' hit series CRIMINAL MINDS and has also starred on the series KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL and the pilot THE POOL AT MADDY BREAKERS. His film credits include the cult favorite PSYCHO BEACH PARTY, A NEIGHBORS SECRET for Lifetime, BLOOD ON THE HIGHWAY, PORTAL and the upcoming HOLIDAY HOUSE and SWEET LORRAINE.
From the theatre that brought you the year-long sold-out run of David & Amy Sedaris' THE BOOK OF LIZ, THE SANTALAND DIARIES is an outrageously funny one-man play by NPR's well-loved humorist David Sedaris, about Sedaris' experiences as an unemployed writer taking a job as an elf at Macy's. At first the job is simply humiliating, but once the thousands of visitors start pouring through Santa's workshop, he becomes battle weary and bitter, occasionally taking out his frustrations on the children and parents alike.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at www.TheBlank.com or by calling (323) 661-9827. THE SANTALAND DIARIES will run on a Thursday-Saturday schedule at 8pm, and Sunday at 2pm through December 20. There will be a special performance November 24 at 8pm, and no performance on Thursday, November 26.
Based in Hollywood, The Blank's productions have garnered rave reviews, audience acclaim, and numerous theatrical honors. Over the years, The Blank has been nominated for 23 Ovation Awards and won 5 including "Best Musical," 14 LA Drama Critics Circle Awards and won 12 including "Outstanding Production," 21 LA Weekly Awards winning 7 including "Musical of the Year," 12 NAACP Theatre Awards winning 4 including "Best Production" and won 17 Back Stage West Garland Awards. The Blank was awarded the Hollywood Arts Council's coveted Charlie Award for "pursuing artistic excellence, nurturing the next generation of playwrights, and challenging itself with a grand vision." The Drama League called The Blank one of the "Best Regional Theatres in America."
