Film, television and Broadway star Lou Diamond Phillips' original stageplay Burning Desire, will launch the new Bruno Kirby Reading Series at The Hayworth Theatre, Monday, June 18th at 8 p.m. Directed by Wendie Malick, Burning Desire also features Michael Urie, Amy Smart and Dan Lauria.
"
Burning Desire, is a romantic comedy in two acts told through the puppeteering antics of 'Lucifer,' played by Phillips," state press notes. "Two people who encounter what seems to be the love of their lives, are taken on a roller coaster ride of romance masterfully manipulated by the mischievous matchmaker."
Phillips starred in
The King and I on Broadway in 1996 and is set to star in the national tour of
Camelot, as King Arthur.
Best known for her starring role in the long-running series "Just Shoot Me,"
Malick has appeared in numerous television series including "Frasier," "CSI" and "Law and Order," to name a few.
Urie currently stars in the ABC-TV hit series "Ugly Betty" as "Marc," the conniving assistant to the cunning editor "Wilhelmina," portrayed by
Vanessa Williams.
Smart most recently was seen starring in the series "Smith" with
Ray Liotta. Dan Lauria is best known for his role as Fred Savage's dad in the hit series, "The Wonder Years."
