The Theatre Project/SCV held its third "Salon Series" fundraiser July 28, 2007 and received $5,000 from Mission Valley Bank, helping raise the necessary funds to kick off the Santa Clarita Valley's own professional theatre company.
Andrea Slominski and Mark Salyer, co-Producing Artistic Directors of The Theatre Project/SCV introduced performances from Julia Gregory (
Showboat) who sang "Coronet Man" from
Funny Girl, Christopher Youngsman (
Grease) who sang "I'm Young and Healthy" from
42nd Street and Kate Steele and Graham Hamilton who performed a comedic scene from the play
Third. Victoria Oscar (
Les Miserables National Tour) closed out the evening singing songs from
Gypsy.
Gregory and Youngsman also gave guests a teaser of music from The Theatre Project/SCV's upcoming benefit performance of
The World Goes 'Round, which will have four shows on the Mainstage of The Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center, September 20-23.
The World Goes 'Round is an acclaimed musical revue that pays tribute to the music of Broadway songwriting legends
John Kander &
Fred Ebb, who are responsible for such classic musicals as
Chicago, Cabaret, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Curtains, and numerous others.
