Perry Laylon Ojeda , after a hit run at Palm Springs' Coachella Valley Rep and a string of high profile cruise ship performances, returns to Upstairs at Vitello's singing The Songs of Betty Comden and Adolph Green, the legendary and longest running creative partnership in American Theatre History.
The multiple award winning team of Comden & Green have distinguished themselves as playwrights, screenwriters and lyricists who have collaborated with such great Broadway musical and film composers as Leonard Bernstein, Jule Styne, Cy Coleman, and Andre Previn. This special cabaret performance, starring Perry Laylon Ojeda, is a musical tribute to the unparalleled contributions they have made to the American Musical Theatre. This one night only event will also include special appearances by Broadway Veterans, Jeffrey Polk , Mary Ann Hermansen and local Los Angeles Theater favorite, Perry Lambert.
Perry relates his personal experience working with the legendary songwriting team, Betty Comden & Adolph Green, when he performed the leading role of "Gabey" in the 1998 Broadway revival of ON THE TOWN and reveals in his own touching words and memories how they mentored and touched his life as an actor & performing artist.
With musical direction by Shelly Markham and staged by Ron Celona , Mr. Ojeda will sing many familiar and several not-so-familiar songs from such Comden and Green musicals as Bells are Ringing , Subways are For Sleeping, On the Town, Fade Out, Fade, In, On the Twentieth Century, Do Re Mi, Will Rogers Follies , and Wonderful Town; as well as hidden gems and secrets behind many of the screenplays for award-winning films: Singing in the Rain, The Band Wagon, and Auntie Mame.

He studied at University of Michigan Musical Theater Department & Interlochen Arts Academy; Ira Siff(voice); Lesly Kahn(acting & comedy). As a professional singer, Mr. Ojeda made his concert debut under the direction of Yutako Sado for La Orchestre National de France in Paris. He toured nationally as a lead singer with The String of Pearls Orchestra singing Big Band hits of WW II, been a production singer for several cruise lines and performed his first solo act at The Talk of The Town in London. Shelly Markham (Music Director) As a musical director and arranger, Shelly has worked extensively with Lainie Kazan and a most diverse roster of performers, including Michael Feinstein, Andrea Marcovicci, Margaret Whiting, Nell Carter, Joey Lawrence, Gogi Grant, Carol Lawrence and Bonnie Franklin. As a composer, he has written songs for the hit Off-Broadway show, Naked Boys Singing, as well as the children's show Alexander and The Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day now published by Dramatic Publishing and the revue TOO OLD FOR THE CHORUS, published by Samuel French.
Ron Celona (Director) has produced, directed and choreographed hundreds of productions over a 30 year career. As an actor, Ron has performed on Stage, in Films, TV and Commercials. He is the founder and Producing Artistic Director of the COACHELLA VALLEY REPERTORY (CVRep), a non-profit educational, dramatic and musical theatre organization. CVRep's primary goal is to present innovative, first-rate professional theatrical productions and special events for the enrichment and education of the region's residents and visitors. His goal of creating an institution for the Coachella Valley is being realized in 2018 with the ownership of a free standing building that will house a Mid-Size Playhouse, Cabaret, Conservatory located in Cathedral City, CA.
