Patty McCormack, star of stage, screen and television, joins the cast of the world premiere of the new play "Miserable with an Ocean View" written and produced by Howard Skora, directed by Jim Fall, scheduled to open Saturday, June 6th, at the Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks, California.

In this fast-paced dark comedy, Jeff Shapiro has one last thing to do before his wheelchair-bound, Long Island mother from hell (played by Oscar-nominee McCormack) kicks the bucket. He just can't muster the courage to do it. But with the help of his squabbling siblings and a talking French clown doll long stashed away in a closet, Jeff just might pull it together in time, in this laugh-out-loud comedy about love, death and taking control of one's life.

From the iconic evil child to the mother from hell, McCormack brings her talent and more than six decades of experience with her, in creating the role of Rhoda Shapiro, a character in her 70s, who suffers from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and is relegated to a wheelchair. Rhoda, who has the nickname "Hitler", is miserable living out the rest of her days fully dependent on her bickering children in her apartment with a beautiful ocean view. And now she must suffer in silence, drowning in the debris of her dysfunctional children including the hapless Jeff, hypermanic Judy and CrossFit-obsessed Ray. Rhoda must somehow find a way to bring them together as a family so they can make her happy for the first time in her life by granting her the one thing that can take her out of her life-long misery.

Actress Patty McCormack, born in Brooklyn, New York, began her career as a model at the age of four. At the age of six, she made her Broadway debut in TOUCHSTONE and by age eight created the role of Rhoda Penmark in the Broadway production of THE BAD SEED, a role she re-created in the film version, earning her both Oscar and Golden Globe nominations. Patty's theatrical credits include BAREFOOT IN THE PARK, UNDER THE YUM YUM TREE, SISTERS ROSENSWEIG, ANOTHER PART OF THE FOREST, CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, TIME OF THE CUCKOO, the National Company of RUMORS, LADIES OF THE CORRIDOR, WHAT I DID FOR LOVE, and HOLLYWOOD EVER AFTER.

From starring in her own television series, PECK'S BAD GIRL to co-starring in THE ROPERS, Patty has been found on the small screen during the Golden Age of Television with roles on PLAYHOUSE 90, CLIMAX, and KRAFT THEATRE. Appearances on ROUTE 66, RAWHIDE, and ONE STEP BEYOND, were followed by roles on shows such as WILD, WILD WEST, POLICE STORY, STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO, MANHUNTER, MAGNUM, P.I., and EMERGENCY. More recently, Patty guested on hits such as GREY'S ANATOMY, SCANDAL, CRIMINAL MINDS and SUPERNATURAL. In addition, fans also know her from recurring roles on DALLAS, THE SOPRANOS, and HART OF DIXIE.

On June 6th, Patty McCormack will grace the Whitefire Theatre stage along with cast mates Paul Elia, Elizabeth Regen, Drew Droege, and Alex Skuby.

The play runs Saturday evenings at 8pm, June 6th through July 18th (Dark July 4th).
