Wallis Center for the Performing Arts (aka "The Wallis") announces Patti LuPone Coulda Woulda Shoulda ... played that part for a second performance tonight, February 13, 2015 at 7:30pm in the Bram Goldsmith Theater. The first announced performance, February 12 at 8:00pm, was completely sold out. Coulda Woulda Shoulda is conceived and directed by Scott Wittman with musical arrangements by Dick Gallagher; the musical director is Joseph Thalken.
Patti LuPone is a two-time, Tony Award-winner for her legendary performances as Eva Peron in Evita and Rose in Gypsy. Perhaps best known to TV audiences for her portrayal of Libby Thatcher on the long-running ABC series "Life Goes On," Ms. LuPone's most recent TV appearances include guest starring roles on the hit HBO series "Girls," FX's "American Horror Story: Coven," NBC's "30 Rock" and the hit FOX series "Glee." Her film credits include roles in Witness and Driving Miss Daisy. She is the author of The New York Times best-selling book
Patti LuPone: A Memoir.
In Coulda Woulda Shoulda . . . played that part, LuPone performs the songs from roles in musicals that she could have played, would have played, or should have played, along with those that she did play or will play. Included in the program are songs from Hair, Bye Bye Birdie, Funny Girl, West Side Story, and Peter Pan, and, of course, selections from Gypsy and Evita.
Nelson Pressley in The Washington Post said, "You don't want to miss it when
Patti LuPone throws a party, which is essentially what she did with her concert Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda, less a consideration of what LuPone coulda been than a celebration of the singular stage force she is. Many try, but few have the knockout punch of LuPone."
