The Pasadena Playhouse (Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director and Stephen Eich, Executive Director) announced a special "Pasadena Day" offer to all persons who either reside or work in Pasadena. Any available tickets to the Thursday, July 21, 8:00 p.m. performance of TWIST - An American Musical will be offered for $25.00 each. The "Pasadena Day" offer is in partnership with media sponsor Pasadena Star-News. Tickets are available for purchase only at the box office and require proof of Pasadena residency or employment. The offer is subject to availability, not valid on previous purchases and cannot be combined with any other offer. TWIST - An American Musical is now performing through July 24, 2011 at The Pasadena Playhouse (39 S. El Molino Avenue).

TWIST features a book by Tony Award-nominee William F. Brown (Broadway's The Wiz - winner of seven Tony Awards) and Tina Tippit, music and lyrics by Grammy Award-winner Tena Clark (Natalie Cole's Still Unforgettable), music by Gary Prim (songwriter for Dionne Warwick and CeCe Winans) and directed and choreographed by Golden Globe and multi-Emmy Award-winner Debbie Allen (Broadway and the West Ends' Cat on A Hot Tin Roof - 2010 Olivier Award for Best Revival of a Play and TV's "Fame"). TWIST is presented in association with TAM Producing Partners - Skyline Pictures (Michelle Seward & Dror Soref), Edgework Productions (Willette Klausner), and GGE Live (Gary Goddard & Forbes Candlish).

This heartwarming family musical is a timely adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic novel, Oliver Twist, with a contemporary score, set in New Orleans on the eve of the Great Depression. TWIST tells the story of a young orphan boy born of a courageous white mother and an incredibly talented black father, who navigates the colorful and sometimes rough waters of street life and racial indifference in his quest to find his family and to find love. The score for TWIST features the musical pulse of New Orleans in the 1920's and is highlighted by a tapestry of soaring ballads, hot jazz, blues, gospel and tap-infused dance numbers that will take audiences along this magical journey.

The creative team for the production includes scenic design by Tony Award winner Todd Rosenthal (2011 Tony nominee, Mother...with the Hat, 2008 Tony Award & 2009 Olivier Award for Best Scenic Design for a Play for August: Osage County); costume design by Emilio Sosa ("Project Runway" Season 7 finalist, Diane Paulus' upcoming Broadway production of Porgy & Bess); lighting design by Tony Award-winner Howell Binkley (Tony Award nominee for How to Succeed...2011 Broadway revival); sound design by Peter Fitzgerald (Broadway's Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Burn the Floor); orchestrations by Tony Award nominee Harold Wheeler (musical director "Dancing with the Stars"); musical direction and vocal arrangements by Jim Vukovich (Broadway's The Wedding Singer; national tour of Hairspray) ; and casting by Stuart Howard, Amy Schecter and Paul Hardt.
