The Pasadena Playhouse (Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director and Stephen Eich, Executive Director) announced their 2011-2012 Season today. The season will include one world premiere musical, one new play starring Academy Award-nominee Angela Bassett (Fences at The Pasadena Playhouse), a Tony Award-winning smash hit, an American classic and will conclude with a new musical to be announced. The 2011-2012 Season begins September 2011.
"It will come as no surprise, I am sure, that I am especially thrilled to announce another full season of productions at The Playhouse. Our next theatrical year will once again be made up of a surprising and eclectic collection of plays and musicals that I hope will provide audiences with an exciting array of theatrical journeys," said Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director of The Pasadena Playhouse. "Hopefully this season will satisfy, thrill and inspire those who are returning to our theatre for yet another season, as well as those who may be discovering The Playhouse for the first time."
Stephen Eich, Executive Director of The Pasadena Playhouse added, "We are grateful to our loyal subscribers and patrons who have patiently followed us on our recent journey. Playhouse audiences have had the joy of being the first to experience the premieres of new musicals on our stage before they've moved on to Broadway and London's West End (Sister Act, Baby It's You!, UNCHAIN MY HEART: The Ray Charles Musical). Once again, The Playhouse will premiere a promising new work that may have a long and successful future.
TITLES UNDER CONSIDERATION:
PEGGY SUE GOT MARRIED - The American premiere of a new version of the London West End success.
THE NUTTY PROFESSOR - Based on the popular Jerry Lewis film, with a score by Marvin Hamlish and Rupert Holmes.
Subscriptions for the 2011-2012 Season will be available for purchases beginning Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Early-bird prices are available for existing and new subscribers through April 25, 2011. The 5-Play Series ranges from $185.00 - $225.00. A special student subscription is available for $99.00 (student ID required) and a VIP 5-Play Series for $375.00. All renewing subscribers will receive priority access to their current seat locations and new subscribers will receive the best available seats within requested sections.
