ABOUT DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA
Danny and the Deep Blue Sea is directed by Ronnie Marmo and features Renee Marino and J. Bailey Burcham. An explosive, deeply affecting study of alienation and the redemptive power of love, this provocative play from the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright "is the equivalent of sitting at ringside watching a prize fight that concludes in a loving embrace" (New York Times).
Paul Panico is producer for Panic! Productions.
Director Marmo has a long professional history with Shanley and his work. As Artistic Director of the 68 Cent Crew Theatre Company, he produced the 6-month long 13 by Shanley Festival in 2009, during which he also played the title role of Danny. "I am extremely excited to revisit Danny and the Deep Blue Sea as director," Marmo says. "Seeing the material from this point of view has made me fall in love with the play even more. Our production is extremely powerful and affecting-these are authentic characters and Renee and Bailey will be leaving it all on the stage at every performance."
Renee Marino received great acclaim as Mary Delgado in the film version of Jersey Boys, and appeared on Broadway in Jersey Boys, West Side Story, Chaplin, andWonderland. Los Angeles audiences know her from her performances as Lola in Damn Yankees at Cabrillo Music Theatre and the iconic Carmen Miranda in the Los Angeles premiere of I Only Have Eyes for You at The Montalban Theatre. Marino wrote and performed her one woman show, I Am Me, Because Of Three to sold out houses here in Los Angeles.
J. Bailey Burcham's credits include Cabrillo Music Theatre's Damn Yankees, as well as such regional credits as Max Bialystock in The Producers and Dave Bukatinsky in The Full Monty at the Eldorado, Reno, Luther Billis in South Pacific with MTWichita, and George in Billy Elliot in Anchorage, Alaska.
