Studio 106 provides a site-specific environment for the action of Portrait of a Soul, which is set in an artist's studio.
Charlotte Turner is a young woman in a troubled marriage to another woman, Dr. Stevie Turner, a successful physician. Charlotte goes to the workspace of a prominent artist, Dave Bell, with the objective of commissioning her own portrait.
Both Charlotte and Dave are traumatized by pivotal events in their pasts. Charlotte's encounter with the famous artist gives her a chance to confront her past, and she'll find unexpected closure from the unusual relationship they develop.
The cast includes Corryn Cummins, James Hal Hardy and Maxi Witrak.
Elisa Manzini is the playwright. She is also a novelist and screenwriter. Originally from Italy, her two novels have been published by Harper Collins and Cento Autori, her plays have been produced in Los Angeles and Berlin, Germany and her debut feature film It Hits You When You Know It will be released in spring 2019. Her many previous plays include Lies and White Lies, Sex and Chocolate, Penis in Fur, Tango and Love, Of Puppies and Men, The theory of moral relativity, and more.
Director Gloria Iseli is a Los Angeles based writer and director working in theatre, film, and podcast. Some of her current projects include the indie horror feature The Headless, the audio drama Red Rhino - now playing on iTunes, a comedic variety show The Witch Hunt, and the documentary King Chess. Most recently she directed A Christmas Cactus for Little Fish Theatre.
