PLAYING JORDAN GOLDMAN by authors David and Andy Neiman will receive its first full staging in Los Angeles, it was announced today by Executive Producer Brad Verebay of New York City.

A story of a thirty-year-old stunted musician who attempts to extort money from his Jewish community by "pretending" to have a Bar Mitzvah using corporate sponsorship, Playing Jordan Goldman not only raises the question as to who's being played and how, but gives new meaning to the question when a Rabbi redefines for Jordan Goldman what it means "to become a man."

This new play will be presented at Theatre Theater in Los Angeles Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00 pm - March 18 through April 23, 2010.

Independent company Silver Lining Film Group based in New York City, is underway in producing the screenplay version of Playing Jordan Goldman. Though the "...Goldman" story was conceived as a film, it was first written as a play by David Neiman entitled A Coat Tale. The title was later changed to The Jordan Goldman Bar Mitzvah Sting. Through multiple public and private readings by several Broadway actors such as Barrett Foa (Avenue Q), Daniel Reichard (Jersey Boys), Sarah Saltzberg (The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee), and Jessie Tyler Fergeson (The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee, and the ABC TV hit series Modern Family), the stage play underwent an adaptation to a screenplay in 2009 when David Neiman's older brother Andy came on board. "So much was fleshed out in this process," says David Neiman, "it was decided that the best way to bring the story back to the stage was as an adaptation of the screenplay."

Silver Lining Film Group is dedicated to discovering new writers, directors and material with the intention of bringing such untapped talent to the big screen. Founded in 2007 by Peter Silver, Pierson Silver and Chandra Cummin, the company's inspiration is the legacy of Peter's grandfather and Pierson's great-grandfather, four-time Academy Award winning Director of Cinematography Joseph Ruttenberg (The Great Waltz - 1938, Mrs. Miniver 1942, Somebody Up There Likes Me 1956, and Gigi 1958). Ruttenberg also received a Golden Globe Award for the 1954 movie musical Brigadoon. Oscar nominations included Waterloo Bridge (1940), Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1940), Madame Curie (1943), Gaslight (1944), Julius Caesar (1953), and Butterfield 8 (1960). www.silverliningfilmgroup.com.

The Los Angeles stage cast of Playing Jordan Goldman includes its author David Neiman, Los Angeles Ovation Award nominee Paul Stroili, Joe Makdisi, Lynn Freedman, Alexandra Ozeri, Christopher Meehan, and Pier Fiedorowicz and Allan Wasserman.

In addition to authors David and Andy Neiman, the stage play's creative team includes: Executive Producer Brad Verebay. Producer Katie Sweeney. Cynthia Levin has been set as Director, with Eric Stolze serving as Stage Manager, and Kim Diaz as Rehearsal Stage Manager/ASM. Set Design is by David Mauer. Costume Design is by Lisa Goldman.
