In his Walt Disney Concert Hall debut, conductor, organist, composer and arranger Martin Neary brings a program that combines the traditional with the unconventional to the Walt Disney Concert Hall on Sunday, November 14, 2010. As part of the 2010/11 Organ Recital Series, the evening features works by Purcell, Bach, Harvey, Mendelssohn, Liszt and Tavener - all of the composers who have inspired Neary's musical life. Joining Neary are west coast-based Millennium Consort Singers - marking the first time the organ series includes a chorus - and organist Edward Murray.

Martin Neary was Organist and Master of the Choristers at Winchester Cathedral (1972-1987) and at Westminster Abbey (1988-1998). Among his awards are a Grammy nomination for his recording of Purcell's Music for Queen Mary and an appointment as Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order by the Queen of England in appreciation of his services at the Funeral of Princess Diana.

ORGAN SERIES AT Walt Disney CONCERT HALL:

The Walt Disney CONCERT HALL ORGAN was inaugurated at the opening of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in fall of 2004. Designed by Frank Gehry and Manuel Rosales of Rosales Organ Builders, the Walt Disney Concert Hall organ contains pipes ranging in size from a pencil to a telephone pole, and is voiced with a wide dynamic range from pianississimo to a breathtaking fortissimo. The specially curved wood façade pipes were made by Glatter-Götz Orgelbau of solid, vertical grain Douglas fir and consist of the Violone and Bassoon basses. Behind the facade are three levels of pipes, including metal pipes made of tin and lead alloys and wood pipes made of Norwegian pine.

The Organ Recital Series for 2010/11 continues as follows:

v Carol Williams (January 23, 2011 at 7:30 PM)
v Stephen Tharp (March 13, 2011 at 7:30 PM)
