Ophelia's Jump Celebrates Tennessee Williams Image

Ophelia's Jump Productions presents And Tell Sad Stories of the Deaths of Queens (and other tales), a stunning collection of rarely produced one act plays by Tennessee Williams. The production will be performed at the Ophelia's Jump Studio, located at 2009 Porterfield Way, Suite H, in Upland, from May 18 - June 9, 2018. A preview performances will be held on May 17.

About And Tell Sad Stories of the Deaths of Queens (and other tales):

The greatest playwright of the American South, Tennessee Williams used his talent throughout his life to create brief plays exploring many of the themes that dominated his best-known works. From the indefatigable, witty and tough drag queens of And Tell Sad Stories of the Deaths of Queens... to the disheartened poet Mister Paradise, these are tales of isolated figures struggling against a cruel world, who refuse to lose sight of their dreams.

"Deaths of Queens" as we call it, is an evening of theatre featuring 6 one-acts that explore the eternal conflict between the creative/chaotic and the orderly/pragmatic. A common theme in Tennessee Williams's works, these short pieces are populated by characters who follow their dreams, passions, and internal voices to funny, absurd, poignant, and sometimes tragic extremes. Several of the pieces are self-referential as the artist, Tennessee Williams, wrote to expiate and understand the devils and muses in his own life.

OJP Theatre for Good

Ophelia's Jump's THEATRE FOR GOOD program seeks to partner with local non-profits to help them raise funds. As part of this production, OJP THEATRE FOR GOOD will raise money to help Soroptimists International of Baldy View to empower women through grants for education and training. Donations will be collected at all performances. In addition, a portion of all tickets purchased for the June 2nd performance will go to the Soroptimists.
