The Orange County Playwrights Alliance (OCPA) returns to Lake Forest's Modjeska Playhouse Saturday, March 12 at 2:30pm for staged readings of four one-act plays, all touching on the entrances and exits that make life momentous, unexpected and spectacular. The event kicks off the 21st year of OCPA's new play development efforts in OC.

Four Characters in Search of a Play, by John Lane (Stanton) - A dysfunctional family deals with a hypochondriac mother, sibling rivalry, an affair, a corrupt doctor who has a fear of emus ... and the conventions of playwriting. As their round proceeds, two members of the threesome exhibit supernatural powers as they vie for the soul of the jerk. Directed by Steven Biggs.

The Venue
Modjeska Playhouse, its artists and its supporters are committed to producing quality professional theatrical works in the Saddleback Valley. The three founding artists (Christopher Sullivan, Joe Alanes and Joshua Stecker) and the members of its Board of Directors were either born in and/or raised and live in South Orange County and are very aware of the need for more cultural arts experiences and education in their local community. The theatre is named after Helena Modjeska, a Shakespearean actress who also called the Saddleback Valley area home, and Modjeska Peak, one of the two peaks that form the Saddleback Ridge.
