Norman Lear to Kick Off 'Modern Masters' Series at the Garry Marshall Theatre

The Garry Marshall Theatre Inaugural Season kicks off its series of six one-night only master classes with some of the most iconic interdisciplinary figures in the arts, beginning with an intimate discussion and Q&A session with television legend Norman Lear on Wednesday, October 18 at 7:30pm.

Tickets for $150 for the one-night master class are available now by calling the Box Office at 818.955.8101 or online at garrymarshalltheatre.org. Proceeds go to supporting the marshallARTS family programming at the newly established Garry Marshall Theatre.

Mr. Lear will discuss his career and give insight into the ever-changing landscape of television, welcoming audience questions and participation. This very special event will be recorded as part of Mr. Lear's podcast All Of The Above With Norman Lear.

Norman Lear has enjoyed a long career in television and film, and as a political and social activist and philanthropist. His latest show, a reimagined Cuban-American version of the iconic One Day at a Timefor NETFLIX, was rated among the top ten new shows of 2017 and is now entering its second season. Lear's iconic shows of the 1970s and 80s-All in the Family, Maude, Good Times, The Jeffersons, Sanford and Son, and Mary Hartman, among others-collectively reached as many as 120 million viewers per week and are said to have transformed the American cultural landscape, bringing the social and political issues of the day into American living rooms.

Garry Marshall Theatre is a nonprofit organization providing innovative performances, educational opportunities, and storytelling activities for all ages, year-round. Located in the heart of Burbank and Toluca Lake's entertainment industry, the critically acclaimed and Ovation Award-winning 130-seat theatre was founded in 1997 as the Falcon Theatre by Hollywood legend Garry Marshall. Reestablished as the Garry Marshall Theatre in 2017, the theatre continues to cultivate new artists and experiences that spark ideas and build community.
