The multi-award-winning NoHo Arts Center Ensemble (NoHoAce) is thrilled to present a world premiere play, THE LIGHT BULB, written by Joshua Ravetch (One November Yankee) and directed by Noho Arts Center Artistic Director James J. Mellon. THE LIGHT BULB will begin previews on Thursday, September 26 at 8pm; will open on Friday, October 4 at 8pm and run for six weeks through Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the NoHo Arts Center, 11136 Magnolia Blvd. (at Lankershim) in North Hollywood.
In this stylized, hilarious, farce, eight marketing executives must create the campaign for the first-ever light bulb that will not burn out. Ambitious, determined, and unscrupulous, this unlikely group of "professionals" launch a campaign that makes this bulb the most successful product in the history of American business. Debuting with a lavish press event at Hoover Dam, the shocking and unintended consequences of "success" unfold in riotous, comical, fast-paced splendor. Like a verbal concerto, we watch this unlikely orchestra-of-humanity maneuver deftly through the chaotic intersection where "Mad Men" meets "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World," ultimately, shedding serious light on the corrupt machinations that produce the marketing of products in America today where everything from toilet paper, to bug spray, to TV news itself is sold to the American consumer in sound-bites and mega-bytes with eye catching graphics and unforgettable slogans. The cast of THE LIGHT BULB will feature: Jon Acosta, Robert Arbogast, Chad Coe, Susan Goodman, Jennifer Hall, Scott Kradolfer, Karesa McElheny, William Rose-Hines, Irene Roseen and John Sofge.
THE LIGHT BULB has assembled an award-winning design team. The Set and Lighting Design is by Ovation Award-winner Luke Moyer (Dracula, Elizabeth Rex). The Sound Design is by Tony Award-nominee Cricket S. Myers (Bengal Tiger in the Baghdad Zoo). The Costume Design is by Connie Tibbetts-Milner. The Stage Manager is Gareth Klein.
