La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and McCoy Rigby Entertainment are thrilled to present the third production of La Mirada Theatre's 2008-2009 season of shows, Neil Simon's Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning play, LOST IN YONKERS, directed by Jeff Maynard, who starred in the cast of the original national tour/Los Angeles premiere. LOST IN YONKERS will begin performances on Friday, February 6 (with a press opening on Saturday, February 7) and will run through Sunday, February 22 at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, 14900 La Mirada Boulevard in La Mirada, near the intersection of Rosecrans Avenue.

Like many of Simon's plays, Lost In Yonkers is drawn from his experiences growing up in New York City. Many critics consider this play to be Simon's best work and the pinnacle of his career. Set during World War II, Arty and Jay are sent to live with their frightfully intimidating Grandma and sweet but mentally slow Aunt Bella. This masterwork is an unsentimental examination of lives in an oppressive household, climaxing with a dramatic confrontation between the bitter mother and lonely daughter. This is Neil Simon at his very best!

JEFF MAYNARD (Director) is a founding member of Buffalo Nights Theatre Company, having acted, directed or produced over 15 productions including: The Final Judgment, Modigliani, Meat, Anatol, Salome, Sophistry and The Madman and The Nun. He won a Drama-Logue Award for Max Frisch's The Firebugs, a BackStage West award for The Apollo of Bellac and LA Weekly's Revival Production of the Year award for Modigliani. Also in Los Angeles, he has directed the Los Angeles premiere of the Ovation nominated Tales of Tinseltown by Michael Colby and Paul Katz - at the Actor's Co-Op, the World Premiere of Dissonance by Ryan Borcherding and Nicky Silver's Pterodactyls. In NY, Jeff's recent directorial work includes Nine, The Pajama Game, The Laramie Project, Mystery of Edwin Drood and Aida. As an actor, Jeff appeared in the first national tour/Los Angeles Premiere of Lost In Yonkers and Biloxi Blues at the Court/Hudson Theatres, Enter Laughing and Taking Stock at the University of Judaism, and TV appearances on "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," "Fresh Prince of Bel Air," "Diagnosis Murder" and the upcoming feature film "The Illusion." Jeff currently runs the theatre program at The Mirman School, teaches private acting classes throughout Los Angeles and is a graduate of UCLA's School of Theater, Film & Television.

The cast of LOST IN YONKERS includes Aaron Albert, Evan Arnold, Michelle Azar, Austyn Myers, Jennifer Parsons, Jayne Taini and Kevin Weisman (Marshall on ABC-TV's hit series "Alias").
