Musical Theatre Guild, the winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critic's Circle Margaret Harford Award for sustained excellence in the theatre, will continue their 2014-2015 season with the 1955 cult classic THE GOLDEN APPLE. The one-night-only concert will take place at the Moss Theatre at New Roads School in Santa Monica on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 7:00 pm.

Adapted by Jerome Moross (score) and John Treville Latouche (book and lyrics) from Homer's epic poems The Iliad and The Odyssey, THE GOLDEN APPLE transplants the action from 11th Century BC to Washington State at the turn of the 20th Century. Entirely sung through, in styles ranging from operetta to calypso to jazz ("Lazy Afternoon"), THE GOLDEN APPLE was one of the very first musicals to open Off-Broadway and then transfer to Broadway. This mash-up of eras, styles and locales won the 1955 New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Musical. The cerebral experimental piece is widely regarded as a landmark work from the musical theatre canon, yet is rarely mounted.

Featured in the large cast are Musical Theatre Guild company members Chuck Bergman, Teri Bibb, Carol Kline, Melissa Fahn, Zachary Ford, Roy Leake, Jr., William Martinez and Mark C. Reis with guest artists Dayna Alice Austin, Jennifer Bennett, Abby Bolin Carlson, Rory Dunn, Matt Kriger, Perry Lambert, Kelly Lester, Mitchell McCollum, Lamont Alexander Pierce, Dana Shaw, Bryan Vickery, Sasha Weis, Paul Wong, Tim Woods and David Zack. THE GOLDEN APPLE will be directed by Michael Van Duzer with musical direction by Richard Berent and is under the production supervision of Robin DeLano and David Holmes.

The MTG 2014-2015 season continues with GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES (April 12, 2015) and concludes with Sondheim'sROAD SHOW (June 14, 2015).

The Moss Theatre at New Roads School is located at 3131 Olympic Blvd. in Santa Monica. Single tickets and subscriptions are available by logging onto www.musicaltheatreguild.com or by calling 818-848-6844.
