Musical Theatre Guild, the winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critic's Circle Margaret Harford Award for sustained excellence in the theatre, will open their 2015-2016 season with the Los Angeles premiere of the 2011 Broadway musical BONNIE AND CLYDE. The one-night-only concert will take place at Glendale's historic Alex Theatre, (currently celebrating its 90th Anniversary), on Sunday, September 20th at 7:00 PM.
BONNIE AND CLYDE, with a score by Frank Wildhorn and Don Black and a book by Ivan Menchell, premiered at the La Jolla Playhouse in 2009 with a subsequent Broadway opening in 2011. Despite running just four weeks, the musical was nominated for three Outer Critics Circle Awards and five Drama Desk Awards, both including Best New Musical, as well as two nominations for the 2012 Tony® Awards. The musical follows the famous couple from their first meeting at a West Texas diner, through their tumultuous courtship and romance; from their brief, history-making crime spree to their fateful final drive through Louisiana. This thrilling and sexy show evokes the 30's depression era and the southern locale, using a score that combines Rockabilly, Blues, Gospel and more.
BONNIE AND CLYDE stars Musical Theatre Guild company members Will Collyer and Ashley Fox Linton in the title roles with Chuck Bergman, Christopher Callen, Christopher Carothers, Julie Garnye, Jennifer Gordon, Barbara Carlton Heart, Scott Harlan, Kevin McMahon, Brandon Michael Perkins, Alyssa M. Simmons and Kevin Symons, and with guest artists David Atkinson, Tyler Ledon, Josey Montana McCoy, Carly Nykanen, Grant Palmer and Jaidyn Young in supporting roles. BONNIE AND CLYDE will be directed by Calvin Remsberg with musical direction by Tom Griep and is under the production supervision of Jeffrey Scott Parsons.
The 2015-20016 MTG season also includes DO I HEAR A WALTZ? (November 15, 2015), A CLASS ACT (February 21, 2016) and THE PAJAMA GAME (May 15, 2016). The Alex Theatre is located at 216 N. Brand Blvd in downtown Glendale, CA. Single tickets and subscriptions are available by logging onto www.musicaltheatreguild.com or by calling 310-772-8178.
