Actors and Others for Animals, one of Los Angeles longest-standing animal welfare organizations, will celebrate the pets that share our homes and our hearts at their upcoming fundraising event.
The highlight of the show will be a Best in Show Pet Competition to be emceed by
Mike Burger, and guests
Leonard Maltin,
Susan Sullivan,
Ed Begley, Jr., Allie MacKay,
Jay Johnson,
Weird Al Yankovic, Bernie Shine and others will share a video of their pet attempting to be the cutest, funniest or most lovable of the group in order to be named "Best in Show." Of course
Fred Willard and
Jim Piddock will be critiquing them as only these two comedians can!
It all takes place at the Universal Hilton Hotel and Towers, located at 555 Universal Hollywood Drive, Universal City, Calif., today, September 28, 2013, from 11:00am - 3:00pm. The celebration will include no-host cocktails, silent auction and gourmet vegetarian luncheon. Tickets can be purchased either online or by phone. Prices begin at $175 per person. For more information, visit
www.actorsandothers.com or call (818) 755-5080.
Because all pets earn the title "Best in Show" each day by just being themselves, pet guardians everywhere will also have an opportunity to include a photograph of their pet in a "Photo Pet Parade" to be shown during the event and featured on their website.
The Search Dog Foundation will be presented with the
Betty White Inspirational Award. "I have always been proud to be associated with Actors and Others for Animals and flattered that they named their annual award after me honoring those who have inspired public awareness and appreciation of animals," noted Ms. White. "This year's recipient, the Search Dog Foundation, shows all of us just how wonderful, talented and adept rescue dogs can be. I hope it encourages more people to rescue a dog of their own."
In addition, the 2013 Award of Caring will be awarded to two individuals - Kathleen Riordan and Bonnie Garner for their work in protecting and caring for companion animals.
