Our Voices Our Stories is being offered to raise awareness of the increased number of Homeless Women living on Los Angeles streets, to inspire programs to reduce these numbers, and to raise awareness of challenges faced by urban youth and disabled young adults. Two of the cast members are Autistic and the stories involve urban youth who have faced the worst, unleashed their voices, found their power, and re-made their lives.
Meme was inspired to advocate for homeless women by her friendship with Joann, a homeless woman who has lived on Ventura Blvd, two blocks from Meme, for the last 13 years.
Meme believes that "No one should have to live on the Los Angeles streets, regardless of their mental health state and that a city as great as Los Angeles can provide a permanent place for all of its residents."
On her blog www.memekellyinspires.com Meme writes about the inspiration behind OVOS, adding that it will also raise awareness of the greatness of Young Adults with Disabalities and their desire to be included in mainstream activities. OVOS has two Cast Members on the Autism Spectrum and Meme's son, also Autistic, is a part of the crew.
Over 50 non-profits that serve women facing challenges, homeless women, at-risk youth, and the disabled and their clients are invited to attend. OVOS will raise awareness of un-heard voices in alignment with the mission of www.indelibleimpact.org.
