Marvin Hamlisch to Join Pasadena Pops as New Conductor, Summer 2011

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Pasadena Pops have a new conductor, the Oscar, Tony and Emmy Award winning composer, Marvin Hamlisch. Hamlisch will take on his role as principle pops conductor in 2011.

The Pasadena Pops have made the Rose Bowl their new home, and are preparing to welcome Hamlisch during the summer of 2011. Hamlish has already been scheduled to conduct three concerts in 2011 at the Rose Bowl.

Hamlisch is best known for his musical scores in Broadway shows like A Chorus Line and They're Playing Our Song, as well as his film scores in The Way We Were and Sophie's Choice. He won a Tony for A Chorus Line, as well as three Oscars, four Grammys, four Emmys and three Golden Globes. He joins the Pasadena oganization as they are losing two of their previous conductors, Jorge Mester and Rachel Worby.
