Reprise! is announcing casting for Li'l Abner - Eric Martsolf will play Abner and Brandi Lynn Burkhardt will play Daisy Mae. They join the previously announced Cathy Rigby (Mammy Yokum) and Fred Willard (Senator Bullmoose). The cast also includes John Ganun as Earthquake McGoon, Michael Kostroff as Marryin' Sam, and Robert Towers as Pappy Yokum.
Li'l Abner is performed February 5 to 17 (press opening February 6) for 16 performances only at the Freud Playhouse at UCLA. The production will be directed by Michael Michetti, choreographed by
Lee Martino, and has musical direction by Darryl Archibald.
Eric Martsolf and Brandi Lynn Burkhardt played Ethan Winthrop and Siren on NBC's "Passions." Eric is most widely known for his critically hailed comic portrayal of the Pharaoh in
Andrew Lloyd Webber's
Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, touring with the production nationally for four consecutive years. Additionally, Eric has appeared in over 40 musicals and plays. Most recently, he starred in the new musical
Knight Life and the new musical adaptation of
Garry Marshall's
Happy Days: The Musical.
Brandi Lynn Burkhardt's theatre credits include the role of Emma in the National Concert Tour of
Jekyll & Hyde. Other theatre work includes
The Music Of Frank Wildhorn,
Oklahoma (Laurey),
Bye Bye Birdie (Kim), and
The Sound Of Music (Maria). Burkhardt previously competed in the Miss Teen USA pageant, won the Miss New York pageant and finally competed for Miss America, where she performed
Take Me As I Am, which she would later record on the album "Jekyll & Hyde - Resurrection."
