Three world premieres are among the six new plays presented in the 2007-8 season of the Kirk Douglas Theatre. Center Theatre Group Artistic Director Michael Ritchie announced the lineup today, which includes the first-ever David Mamet musical, acclaimed Off-Broadway shows, international fare, and more.
"We are very fortunate in this new season at the Douglas," states Ritchie in press notes, "to host the work of artists who are right on the verge of becoming theatrical stars: Matt Sax and his charismatic
Clay,
Michael Friedman's and Alex Timber's wildly theatrical
Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson,
Nilaja Sun's engaging
No Child . . ., and Tanya Barfield's important and revealing
Of Equal Measure. Put these works alongside the mastery of
David Mamet and his foray into the musical theatre world with
A Waitress in Yellowstone, and the startling echoes of the Katrina disaster in the Teatro de Los Andes' avant-garde production of
En Un Sol Amarillo, and the 2007-2008 season at the Douglas adds up to one helluva year of theatre."
