After sold-out shows at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York and Los Angeles, costume drama parody Murder Abbey begins a run at the Fountain Theatre. Murder Abbey is a solo costume drama parody written and performed by Upright Citizens Brigade comedian, Kate Hess.

Murder Abbey will begin a limited run at the Fountain Theatre at 5060 Fountain Avenue, Los Angeles at 8pm on Sunday January 12 and continue on January 13, 14, 15, 22, 23, and end on Friday January 31. Tickets are $10 and reservations can be made at http://www.fountaintheatre.com/event/murder-abbey/.

Set in a grand Downton Abbey-like estate in the roaring twenties, Murder Abbey gleefully deconstructs favorite Masterpiece Theatre conventions from Downton Abbey to Agatha Christie with smart and irreverent characters. Fans of Downton Abbey will delight in her fresh satirical take on familiar archetypes, from a suspiciously robotic Laura Linney to a love-sick maid whose costume drama courtship cannot escape the intrusive melodramatic music. An excerpt from Murder Abbey can be viewed here: https://vimeo.com/47388543.

Kate Hess is a writer and performer at Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles. At UCB she wrote and starred in The Palin Family All-Star Revue & Election Spectacular and We Kate Shelly, which Time Out NY called "silly, adroit, and unique all at once." She has appeared in The Goldbergs, Law & Order: SVU, Love, Inc., and Childrens Hospital on AdultSwim.com. She is also the voice of the popular Downton Abbey parody twitter account "@OBriensBangs".

Andrew Secunda (Director) was a writer on Late Night with Conan O'Brien for which he won two Writers Guild Awards and was nominated for two Emmys. He has also written for Saturday Night Live's TV Funhouse and Night of Too Many Stars, for which he received his third Emmy nomination. At UCB he co-founded the improv supergroup, The Swarm, and performs regularly at ASSSSCAT. As an actor he has appeared on Arrested Development, The Flight of the Conchords, The League, The Other Guys, and The Office. He currently writes on ABC's The Goldbergs.
