Musical Theatre Guild, a company of professional performers who present concert-staged readings of seldom seen musicals, will continue its 16th season with LITTLE WOMEN, the first of two productions in the MTG 2011-2012 season commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War. The closing performance will take place on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza’s Scherr Forum.

The recipient of four 2005 TONY® nominations, this charming version of the classic story follows the March sisters and their beloved Marmee in Civil War Massachusetts as their father is away serving in the Union army. With a heartfelt, lyrical score, LITTLE WOMEN’s themes of childhood dreams and family togetherness are timeless and relevant to this day. The Broadway production closed after 134 performances but was followed shortly after by a 30-city US National Tour.

Starring in LITTLE WOMEN are MTG members Eileen Barnett (Marmee), Roger Befeler (John Brooke), Dan Callaway (Bhaer), Will Collyer (Laurie), Melissa Fahn (Amy), Gordon Goodman (Mr. Laurence), Carol Kline (Aunt March), Melissa Lyons (Beth), Jen Malenke (Meg) and introducing MTG guest artist Alyssa Simmons as Jo. The musical will be directed and choreographed by Kirsten Chandler with musical direction by Lloyd Cooper and is under the production coordination of Jill Marie Burke.
