Musical Theatre Guild, the winner of the Los Angles Drama Critic's Circle Margaret Harford Award for sustained excellence in the theatre, has announced an eclectic quintet of shows to celebrate its fifteenth season of Broadway in Concert musicals.
The company of professional performers, who present concert-staged readings of seldom seen musicals, will stage five productions in two locations beginning in September, 2011. Their 2011-2012 season will include:
HIGH FIDELITY, FANNY, A NEW BRAIN and two musicals commemorating the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War: LITTLE WOMEN and SHENANDOAH.

Based primarily on the
Nick Hornby novel rather than the subsequent film version it inspired,
HIGH FIDELITY concerns Rob, a quirky list-obsessed record shop owner who, after his girlfriend Laura leaves him, goes through a painful re-evaluation of his life and lost loves. With a book by Pulitzer-Prize winning playwright David Lindsay-Abair (Rabbit Hole) and score that plays tribute to various pop and rock artists,
HIGH FIDELITY closed after only 14 performances. However, subsequent productions have been ecstatically received.
