Long Beach Playhouse Presents the Eighth Annual Long Beach Playhouse Radio Hour Image

On June 15 at 6:00 P.M., the Long Beach Playhouse will present the eighth annual Long Beach Playhouse Radio Hour at the offices of Keesal Young and Logan. This truly unique event is a fundraiser for the Playhouse which, at 89 years, is one of the city's oldest arts organizations.

Gazette Executive Editor Harry Saltzgaver writes a hilarious script, complete with sound effects, witty banter and bad puns. It's performed by the Long Beach Players and this year they are: Mario Cordero, Jane Close Conoley, caryn desai, Paul Garman, Chris Garner, Mari Hooper, Kelly Lucera, Charlie Parkin, John Thomas, Pat West and Shirley Wild with Art Levine on sound andMitchell Nunn as Master of Ceremonies.

Provocative questions for this year's show are: Can the Urban Cowboys (Mario Cordero and Chris Garner) drive their horses on the freeway and will the Port go green or grow green? Will Guy Penoir (Charlie Parkin) speak to Lois Lace (Shirley Wild) within the bounds of good taste as defined in the harassment manual? Will Jim (Paul Garman) and Barb (caryn desai) solve the mysteries of Zuckerberg, Gates and virtual reality? Will Mom (Mari Hooper) get her questions about bike lanes answered? And, above all else, can Jane Close Conoley (as Madam President) dodge and weave the noises made by Art Levine and help the unruly 2018 class of players graduate into productive citizens in our favorite town. One thing is certain: Harry's script will be rousing and provocative and the ad libs fast and furious. Anything can happen!

In addition to the Radio Show, the acclaimed Keesal Young and Logan chef offers a bounty of appetizers to satisfy even the pickiest foodie. On your way to the buffet is KYL's hosted bar and bartender.

This year's show is on a Friday night, which means party! Playhouse members can purchase tickets for $60 a person or $100 a couple. Non-member tickets are $75 each and $125 per couple. A modest price for the chance to hang out with the city's movers and shakers, eat great food and have a drink or two on the house. And it takes place in a room with a breathtaking view of the harbor. So grab a date, buy two tickets and join us. Tickets can be purchased online @lbplayhouse.org click on Special Events or by calling the box office at 562.494.1014.

All proceeds support the productions and programs of the Long Beach Playhouse including plays of all types, collaborative productions, comedy nights, guest lecturers, regionally recognized youth and adult education programs and the internationally acclaimed New Works Festival.
