LITTLE FISH THEATRE today announced the first production of the 2015 season, the thirteenth annual of PICK OF THE VINE, a collection of original short-subject plays that has become the signature production of this local arts landmark.
The 2015 program consists of:
Anniversary by Sam Wallin
Pre-Occupy Hollywood by Dylan Brody
Shadows by Greg Freier
Fighting Mr. Right by Barbara Lindsay
Mamie & Martin Go to Bed by Kam Ramsburg
Salt in the Wound by Mark Harvey Levine
The Maltese Walter by John Minigan
Trash Day by Vincent Terrell Durham
Come & Take It by Annie R. Such
There's Something about Flashdance by Diana Lee Wood & Henry Franco
Ranging from five to fifteen minutes in length, this collection of plays is the theatrical equivalent of an evening at chef's table, providing delightful bites of comedy and drama that provide a full complement of unique stories in a single evening. Some have never been performed before an audience.
In terms of dramatic variety and enjoyment, the selection of one-act plays LITTLE FISH delivers in PICK OF THE VINE every year is remarkable. The artistic team at LITTLE FISH THEATRE undertakes an extensive process each year, selecting from over 600 submitted manuscripts. They carefully cull through and identify the choice moments of dramatic and comedic impact that make a play ripe for this season's lineup.
This production will run Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm from January 9 through February 14, 2015, with additional performances on Thursday nights at 8pm on February 5 and 12, and Sunday afternoon at 2pm on January 18, 25 and February 1. Over the years, PICK OF THE VINE has accumulated a loyal and enthusiastic following; and as in the past several seasons, this production is expected to sell out most performances.
Cast members include many that LITTLE FISH patrons will recognize, plus a few new faces: Holly Baker-Kreiswirth, Bridget Garwood, David Kieran, Mary Margaret Lewis, Rodney Rincon, Chad Skiles, Annie Vest and Bill Wolski. This year, Cylan Brown (actor, Oswald), Danielle Ozymandias (Gin Game), James Rice (Educating Rita and Mama Won't Fly) and Margaret Schugt (Central Park West) will direct the plays.
Founded in 2002, LITTLE FISH THEATRE presents an impressive variety of classic and contemporary plays in an intimate setting on Centre Street in downtown San Pedro. Producing eleven plays each year for a one-room 65-seat venue, LITTLE FISH receives frequent critical acclaim for its close-up theatrical productions, proudly delivered in air-conditioned comfort.
