Little Fish Theatre announces the opening of the tenth show of its 2013 season: GRACE AND GLORIE, by Tom Ziegler. A determined social worker meets her match - a 90-year-old hospice patient.
Grace is determined to live out her days on the last standing structure on the 500-acre farm that was once hers. The last thing she needs is Gloria, the well-intentioned but naïve hospice care volunteer. As it turns out, each needs the other in this heartfelt comedic drama.
GRACE AND GLORIE will star Little Fish Theatre favorites Amanda Karr and Mary-Margaret Lewis, who recently performed together to critical acclaim in STEEL MAGNOLIAS. "This play is a study in social contrasts," notes director Jim Rice. "These women come to know one another in the extremes of life, which makes for a compelling story of faithful friendship." Jim directed the award-winning and enormously popular production of STEEL MAGNOLIAS at Little Fish this year, as well as REAL ESTATE and Noel Coward's PRESENT LAUGHTER in 2012.
The play will run Wednesdays and Thursdays September 25, 26 and October 9, 10 at 8pm. Weekend performances will be presented Friday October 4 and Saturday October 5 at 8pm. A Sunday matinee is scheduled for 2pm on September 29, after which the creative team will be available for 10 to 15 minutes for post-show discussion with the audience.
Founded in 2002, Little Fish Theatre presents classic and contemporary plays in an intimate setting on Centre Street in downtown San Pedro. Producing eleven plays each year for a one-room 65-seat venue, Little Fish delivers the quintessential close-up theatrical experience, where audience and performers share space and sight-lines, making for eruptive laughter, highly-charged action and palpable emotion.
